The stories have me on the edge of my seat, the interaction between Vera and others has me reflecting about my own workplace. So funny in a way. Couldn't recommend this highly enough.
  • No subtitles so bit difficult to follow

Looks interesting but regional accents difficult to follow at times so not so good for international audiences.
  • Another great British crime drama series.

A family favourite in our household, this is a well-written crime drama series that keeps the viewer guessing until the end of each episode. Vera Stanhope is an unassuming older Detective Chief Inspector who calls her suspects "luv" and "pet" and often resembles a female version of Columbo, but has a razor-sharp mind, slowly and surely working out the latest case to its conclusion with the help of her team. Brenda Blethyn is wonderful as Vera, with an excellent support cast in every episode.

Tremendous storylines with enough twists and turns to keep the most avid hard-boiled detective fans guessing right up to end.
